Current mood: sad

My eldest sister called me soon after I got to work, to tell me that our brother Stephen had died.

My brother lived in England, and travelled around with his tent. He was very intelligent, and was very good with computers, but he didn't believe in working. He hated the government, and believed that the land should belong to the people.

He was camping at Exmoor and was found in his tent. They suspect he froze to death. Knowing that really upset me, what an awful way to die - but that is how he chose to live. It was not as if he went out for a camping weekend. He had been doing it for a long time, and knew the risks.

I am sad that I never got to meet him, and I am sad that he died so young. Mostly though, I feel so sorry for my mum and my sisters.

Please don't post sad comments or try to comfort me. I don't need that, honestly. I just wanted to say what happened and let everyone know why I might not be around much.

Ok, I won't post a sad comment.

I will rather say that I'm sorry, but you should remember one thing.

He died living the way he wanted to live, the way he loved to live, for a cause he believed in, and therefore, lived more deeply than most of us could hope to dream. Godspeed to him where he journey's to now. Be happy for him.

It has been unusually cold here these past weeks. A nasty way to go, yes, but I'm with Eric. He was doing what he wanted.

...did he move to England, or did you move to Australia? I don't know much about you, so... he's pretty brave if he's much younger than you and he made his way like that.

I wish I could make a life decision, even if it had poor consequences...
