It never occurred to me that my parents have no wedding photos. Mum hates having her photo taken.. in any case, I just never ever thought of it.

I think I've asked when their wedding anniversary is.. Mum must have skirted around the question artfully, and I suppose I let it go.

Mum wears wedding rings, but probably from her first marriage. I remember I asked once why she had two on, and I got a nasty response that she didn't want to talk about it. I just assumed it had something to do with the circumstances of her previous marriage.

Dad never had a ring (again, I never questioned that). When I was about 10, I found a gold ring on the roadside, and gave it to him. He has worn it ever since. Even THEN I never questioned why he didn't have a ring. I think I asked mum why.. but I never sat back and thought "gee, that's funny....".

Wow, am I thick.

Why WOULD you assume something like that of your parents? That they wouldn't be married I mean. Lots of people don't wear rings, and my parents don't exactly leave wedding photos lying around.

I don't think this makes you thick, is all I'm saying.

MY dad doesn't wear a ring, but that's because he's got crappy circulation to his fingers. I don't think I'd wear a ring, either. I hate them. It's not something I question, either.

My dad was never big into the ring - but I know they were married because it was a really nasty divorce.

But yeah - I don't think you're thick, it's easy enough to lump those things into things married people do at times. :)
